Low Bias Miniature Accelerometers for Down-Hole Drilling Applications, Models 3205B and 3205M1

May 14, 2014 – Chatsworth, California, USA – Dytran Instruments, Inc. (www.dytran.com) a leading manufacturer of piezoelectric and DC MEMS accelerometers, force and pressure transducers and associated electronics, has introduced the models 3205B and 3205M1.

Models 3205B and 3205M1 are high performance IEPE accelerometer capable of operating at temperatures up to +347°F (+175°C) and were designed for down-hole drill head vibration monitoring and other low turn-on voltage applications where supply power is limited.


Sensors developed for down-hole vibration monitoring must be able to deliver accurate and reliable data, while simultaneously tolerating harsh conditions. Critical characteristics of these sensors include a miniature design, high temperature operation, and the ability to operate at low power levels. The Dytran models 3205B and 3205M1 are ideal for such applications, as they are packaged in a miniature titanium housing with a vertical height of just 0.30 inches (7.7 millimeters), and were specially designed to operate from +4.0 to +4.5 VDC compliance voltage.


The Dytran model 3205B is offered with a 2 mV/g sensitivity and is designed with adhesive mounting capabilities, while the model 3205M1 is offered with a 0.33 mV/g sensitivity and incorporates a 10-32 mounting stud. Weighing just 2.5 grams, units incorporate a 35-inch integral cable assembly terminating to flying leads.
