The Dytran model 1210C4 is a ring style piezoelectric charge mode force sensor offered with a sensitivity of 18 pC/lbf and with reliable high temperature operation to +400°F (+204°C). The industry commonly refers to these sensors as "force washers", due to their similar appearance. Units were designed to measure rapid or slowly changing dynamic forces in machinery and in other applications where a thru stud or bolt holds the sensor in place in a preloaded condition.

The 1210C4 is available with a full scale range of 40,000 lbf, and features a quartz sensing element operating in compression mode, and packaged in a rugged stainless steel housing weighing 60 grams. Units incorporate a 10-32 radial connector, Ø.66 inch (1.7 millimeter) thru hole mounting and are hermetically sealed for reliable operation in high humidity and dirty environments.
